For Wallace’s this was his only individual event of the Games and he was pleased to get the heat under his belt. He said “That was good to get that race done. It’s my first individual swim of the meet so it was a bit different preparing for that mentally."

Speaking about the wait he’s had for his individual race, Wallace continued "My role in the team has been different here. I’m trying to become more of a leader, get out and support everyone, while at the same time making sure I’m ready to perform at the level we expect to perform at.”

Loughborough’s Jarvis Parkinson posted his fastest heats swim of the season in 2:02.85, with City of Sheffield’s Joe Litchfield matching Parkinson’s fourth place heat finish in 2:01.78. But in a fast field, both missed out on a place in the final.
