NCSEM and FSEM Seminar Series

Bookings are now open for the National Centre for Sport & Exercise Medicine's first online seminar series, in partnership with the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine. Running over four Thursday evenings in April, this series of free webinars will explore current issues in physical activity. Featuring presentations from leading clinicians and academics as well as those with lived experience and covering topics including maternal health, cancer prehabilitation, mental health and COVID-19 recovery, these seminars will deliver engaging and informative content.

The events will take place online. They are free of charge and open to anyone with an interest in the topics.

16 March (17:30 - 18:30) - Public lecture: Mental toughness - from elite sport to weight management

This public lecture will be delivered by Dr Elizabeth Stamp, Lecturer in Health and Exercise Psychology at Loughborough University.

8 April (19:30 - 21:00) - NCSEM and FSEM seminar: Physical activity and maternal health

This seminar is part of a series of four seminars joinly hosted by the three NCSEM and FSEM.

28 April (17:30 - 18:30) - Public lecture: Finding your feet – the importance of early childhood for the development of a healthy lifestyle.

Dr Silvia Costa will deliver a public lecture with a focus on physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and diet.

19 May (17:30 - 18:30) - Public lecture: All fat is not equal

This public lecture will be delivered by Dr Scott Willis, Research Associate in the School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Loughborough University.

21 July (17:30 - 18:30) - Public lecture: What makes the world’s best athletes tick?

This public lecture will be delivered by Dr David Fletcher, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Performance at Loughborough University.
