Day Six - 2009 Swimming Championships

The packed crowds at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre today Saturday 14th March saw some fantastic swims from all ages to include a Boys 50m Butterfly just shy of the British Junior Record from Nicholas Lowe (Millfield) in a time of 26.12 secs.  It was Vicky Rayson (Taunton Deane Swimming) and Tom Green (Millfield), however who were fastest finalists in the pool as they won the Ladies and Mens 50m Freestyle Championships in a time of 27.50 and 24.49 respectively, albeit Joe Marsh (Taunton Deane Swimming) swum the fastest mens time of the day in qualifying at 24.21secs.

The Ladies 50m Butterfly Champion was Victoria Beach (Taunton Deane Swimming) in a time of 30.34; Victoria Rayson won the 50m Backstroke Championship in a time of 30.10 secs whilst Sophie Allin (Millfield) received the 50m Breaststroke Championship Trophy after swimming the distance in 35.77secs.   

On the Mens side Nicholas Lowe was crowned 50m Butterfly Champion in a time of 26.12secs just shy of the British Junior Record whilst Tom Green (Millfield) became 50m Backstroke Champion in a time of 27.14secs and Chris Wintle (Street) was awarded the 50m Breaststroke Championship recording a time of 30.43secs.

With one day left of this year's Championships to go tomorrow, Sunday 15th March why not take a trip to Hutton Moor Leisure Centre to cheer on your swimmer and no doubt witness swimming stars of the future in your local pool?
