Kelly Podbury, Somerset ASA President writes:

Kelly Podbury presents Somerset ASA Young Volunteer of the Year award to Angharad Laraman

"As we were heading into a circuit breaker lockdown, I quickly organised to attend a session at Weston-super-Mare Swimming Club to present this year’s Somerset ASA Young Volunteer of the Year award to Angharad Laraman.

"It was great to see an active pool full of swimmers enjoying probably their last session for a month and also to meet the Chairman of the club and have a good conversation about how lockdown has affected clubs.

Somerset ASA Young Volunteer of the Year award presented to Angharad Laraman

"Angharad had been nominated by her Committee for her dedication and commitment to the sport, not only in coaching but also teaching and for being present at pretty much every event that they organised. And from a Somerset ASA point of view, I can also say Angharad has been a regular volunteer at the County Championships and Development Meet.

"In these unprecedented times I think it is vital to say thank you to everybody in our sport that keeps it alive and passionate for our competitors. Thank you to all volunteers in the clubs for your efforts.

"On 3 November I was handing the award to Angharad and deservingly so but remember you are all key to the success of our sport.

"Stay safe everyone."

Kelly
