Somerset enables its Masters swimmers to raise their spirits before Halloween
Somerset's masters swimmers have thanked the County for giving them the opportunity to meet up and train in Covid-19 secure sessions at Millfield Pool on two occasions in October 2020.
On Sunday 4 October, 12 masters swimmers trained in 2 lanes and on Saturday 24 October, 23 swimmers enjoyed the use of 4 lanes.
Both sessions were coached by Sharyn Meeks.
With the pandemic limiting the amount of pool time available for masters swimmers in Clubs, Masters Co-Secretary Adele Parham fedback that all swimmers had a great time and really enjoyed the sessions.
Masters swimmer Michael Semple commented: "The session held at Millfield on 4 October was really positive and all swimmers finished it in good spirits. I personally really enjoyed the session.
"I think in the current uncertain times, the free masters session at Millfield is really positive for people. It is supportive of people's positive mental health by bringing them together in a time when we’re more isolated than ever before due to Covid-19.
"I hope that consideration can be given for making this a monthly occurrence as it is really supportive of the people in Somerset and great preparation for future galas when these begin again."
