Swim England Assistant Artistic Swimming Coach – Theory Virtual Sessions only – Online

Government guidance means our pools are currently closed, but this does not mean our training and qualifications should stop. The Institute of Swimming has specifically adapted this course to make sure everyone has the opportunity to start their training.

As an aspiring coach, this course will equip you with the knowledge and tools to actively support a Synchronised Swimming Coach in the delivery of a planned training session.

Who is the course designed for?
Anyone who wants to take the first step to become an Artistic Swimming Coach or interested in supporting a coach in a club environment.

Course content
This course will be delivered through a mixture of online Zoom sessions and practical poolside learning. The IoS will then arrange your practical training days once the leisure centres and clubs have reopened. Your practical poolside learning will include supporting at least three training sessions to gain hands on practical experience.

Course fees
To allow as many people to start training during these exceptional times, the IoS is splitting the course fee into two separate payments.

When you start the course and begin your online learning, you will only have to pay £100.

Once the leisure centres and clubs reopen and the IoS can book your practical days, the IoS will contact you at this point arrange your final payment of £100.

  • The role of the assistant coach
  • The fundamentals of Synchronised Swimming
  • How to safely prepare, support and conclude coached Synchronised Swimming sessions
  • Basic and Synchronised Swimming specific coaching skills
  • Coach and performer development
  • Good practice in coaching ethics
  • Health and safety

Prerequisites:
You must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the course.
