Day Two - 2009 Swimming Championships

During a highly charged finals session on Day Two of the County Swimming Championships held at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Victoria Rayson (Taunton Deane Swimming) smashed her own record set back in 2006 for the Womens 100m Backstroke.  In qualifying for the final Vicky recorded a time of 1:03.32, inside her previous record by over two tenths of a second but in the final she blew her old record away setting a new Championship Time of 1:02.85!

The day also saw the ladies compete for the 400m Freestyle Championship.  Stacey Tadd (University of Bath), swimming on her birthday, took the gold in a time just short of the record she set for the event back in 2005.

In the Mens events Simion Rex (Keynsham) took gold in the 200m Backstroke whilst James Disney-May (Millfield) swam to victory in the 100m Breaststroke Final.

So in the individual events four clubs struck gold but it was the day's Age Group Relay Championships that brought the crowd to their feet!

Both the Girls and Boys 13 - 14 years Medley and Freestyle Teams from Millfield took gold but they were pushed all the way by the teams from Taunton Deane Swimming who took all four silver medals.  The team from Yeovil took both bronze medals in the girls events whilst the boys from Weston-Super-Mare took both in their Championships.
