BUCS LC Championships 2020 Day 1

14 to 16 Feb at Ponds Forge

The two top spots in the Men's 1500m Freestyle went to the only two Bath based swimmers in the event - Luke Turley (15:38.70) and Will Ryley (15:46.78). Asterios Daldogiannis (Loughborough, 15:53.21) placed third.

The battle for the Women's 1500m Freestyle crown saw Amber Keegan (Sheffield) closely tracked by Emily Clarke until the Andi Manley trained Loughborough star took over at 600m. However Keegan continued to push hard with only hundredths of a second separating the pair over the next 200m.

Keegan resumed the lead and an enthralling contest then saw it repeatedly change hands before Clarke put on a sprited 50m push from 1300m to increase her slender advantage to 0.81s. However Keegan had enough in reserve to surge through with just 50m to go to clock 17:08.63 for gold. Clarke claimed silver in 17:11.50 and Katie Taylor (Strathclyde,  17:28.30) bronze.

A last 100m burst from Bath's Men/Women 4x100m Medley(4:06.34) saw them chase down and get to within 0.1s of Sheffield Hallam for a fifth place finish in the final won by Loughborough (3:53.13). The Bath quartet had improved 6.85s and one place on their heat swim
