About the Club

Norton Radstock Swimming ClubNorton Radstock Swimming Club is a SwimMark accredited Development Club, affiliated to Swim England South West / Somerset ASA and an active member of the Team Bath AS network. Its membership currently stands at 110.

NRSC is an inclusive swimming club, entry LTS level 5 and above by a trial. Competitive opportunities are provided for members at the Club's Spring Sprint Gala / Annual Club Championships / Cotswold League / a friendly Winter League and a full calendar of Open Meets / County / SWR events for those meeting entry conditions. Additional training opportunities are provided through Team Bath AS Academy sessions and entry into to their Transition, Potential and Performance squads.

The Opportunity  

The club is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Level 2 Coach / Teacher to assist the Club's Head Coach. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of the Swim England Pathway, demonstrate effective communication skills and posses the ability to motivate swimmers to reach their full potential. 

This voluntary post would be ideal for a candidate looking to progress to be a Head Coach in the future, and initially to coach the Development swimmers under the guidance of the Head Coach, with the long-term goal of being responsible for training on one of the weekday evenings.

Venue: Midsomer Norton Leisure Centre, Gullock Tyning, Midsomer Norton, Radstock BA3 2SY
Training Times: Tuesdays and Wednesdays 6 – 9pm, Sundays 4.45 – 7pm

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Uphold and promote the ethos of NRSC at all times.
  • To coach / assist / provide cover at sessions by agreement with the Head Coach.
  • Be a supportive colleague.
  • Be responsible for your own continued professional development.
  • Attend / assist and coach at swim meets throughout the year as agreed with the Head Coach or Workforce Co-ordinator.
  • Attend galas hosted by Norton Radstock Swimming Club where possible.
  • Plan and deliver sessions, providing feedback to the participants to ensure continual improvements in stroke technique / competitive skills.
  • Answerable to the Head Coach and Committee. 
  • To attend meetings as required with the Head Coach / Committee.
  • To be a positive role model, creating an environment to ensure all members are developed to their full potential and compete at the highest possible level to ensure lifelong participation in the sport.

Qualifications
  • Minimum ASA / UKCC Level 2 Coaching swimming or Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate or Level 2 Teacher holding a Level 1 Coaching certificate.
  • A current Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop Certificate / Online Renewal.
  • Complete an enhanced DBS check by arrangement with the NRSC Welfare Officer to comply with the Swim England’s safeguarding policy WavePower.

For applicants holding a Level 2 Teaching and Level 1 Coaching qualifications subject to volunteering for a minimum of a year and agreement to continue volunteering for a further two years post qualification, support would be given to apply for grant funding to attend a Level 2 Coaching course.
