Opportunity: Somerset ASA Volunteer Co-ordinator

Somerset ASA is seeking a Volunteer Coordinator to work with all Somerset clubs and the County Swimming and Competition Secretary to help raise the profile of volunteering in the County and to recruit and train volunteers for various programmes and events.

Main Duties
  • To raise the profile of volunteering in Somerset
  • Work with all volunteers within aquatics by acting as a point of contact within the County for volunteers and volunteering.
  • Ensure up to date job descriptions are in place for the roles within the County Management Committee
  • Work with others to develop volunteering in the areas of recruiting, retaining, rewarding / recognising, developing / training and communicating.
  • Work with the Swimming and Competition Secretary to recruit volunteers for the County Championships and Development Meet.
  • Assist clubs to highlight the value of recruiting a volunteer coordinator and supporting them to recruit a coordinator and their volunteers.
  • Provide feedback and guidance on matters affecting volunteers.
  • Work with Active Partnerships (formerly known as County Sports Partnerships) and Development Officer 

The main duties revolve around the County’s Annual Championships and Development Meet, so there are times of the year which are busier than others.

Time required
2/3 hours per week in the run up to County Competitions and expected to be less following the competition window.
