Team Bath AS say thank you to Sean O’Connor

Sean O'ConnorSean O’Connor, who has served as the Team Bath AS Chairperson for the last two years and previously as Special Advisor, has decided to step down from his role in order to focus on supporting his daughter Siobhan-Marie with her preparations in the run up to the Olympic Games in Tokyo next year.
Sean has given his time freely with the aim of building a swimming program that would benefit young people in the area. As a parent of an Olympic medallist he is passionate about wanting to give back to the sport that had helped his daughter achieve and continue to achieve her dreams.
With the support of the committee, Sean has driven several major changes to Team Bath AS including the introduction of an Academy program for those moving from Learn to Swim into a club environment, a Masters squad to continue lifelong involvement and participation in sport and joining the Arena League (hoping to rival some of the bigger teams in the next few years). He is leaving Team Bath AS with new links at Bath Sport and Leisure Centre and Culverhay Leisure Centre through GLL Better Leisure along with the continued support from the University of Bath.
Further growth seeing the introduction of Development Clinics whilst continuing to provide training opportunities for the workforce through Safeguarding and Team manager courses and coaching qualifications working with the Institute of Swimming.  In order to ensure the club could run licensed meets and its day to day operations a volunteering commitment was introduced so that experience can be retained and the workload could be spread.
Memories from the committee point of view are of a Team Building experience in April 2018 with psychometric profiles where the aim was to have some fun whilst improving and developing better team understanding followed by a team meal.

The Team Bath AS committee, coaches, parents and members want to pass on their huge thanks to Sean for his leadership and for the central role he has taken to create the Team Bath AS programme that we have today. His experience and enthusiasm have been invaluable, and we are extremely fortunate to have benefited from his expertise.
