Claire Abbott is Swim England South West Volunteer of the Month

Claire AbbottClaire Abbott of Yeovil and District Swimming Club has received the award of Regional Volunteer of the Month for May 2019.

Claire's son joined the club in September 2018 at which point Claire thought that all the coaches were paid! As soon as she realised they were all volunteers, she instantly stood up to the mark and started helping the club.

She attended the first J1 course that she could and is now well on the way to becoming a qualified official. She has also organised a team bulding event for the lower squads which was a great success. However her main contribution to date has been in helping with the Club's Easter Swim meet. Without prompting, she has visted well over 75 local companies to gain support and prizes for the raffle, which under the current economic climate is a fantastic achievement.

Claire has quickly become a very good asset to the club and is always very bubbly and enthusiatic.

Although not ‘frontline’ in coaching or on the committee, what she has done for the club to date cannot be underestimated.

The Club hope that if others see Claire has been recognised for her hard work and contribution, it may encourage them to step forward.

Congratulations Claire on your achievements.
