Somerset ASA County Pathway Programme 2019 - Selection Announcement
Somerset ASA is pleased to announce that the team and swimmers are now confirmed for the County Pathway Programme Camps 2019, a joint venture with the Swim England Talent Team to provide not only development opportunities for the County’s 11yr old swimmers, but also similar opportunities for the “team” around them – coaches / team managers / parents / guardians.
We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to and congratulate the following swimmers from across the County who competed in Somerset County Championships:

|Francesca Taylor||City of Bristol||F|
|Lola Whatley||Taunton Deane||F|
Thank you to all the coaches who applied for positions on the team. We have assembled a great team headed up by our Lead Coach James Clarke from Millfield. Working with James will be our six Skills Coaches:
- James Gilmore (Weston Super Mare),
- Marisa Taylor (Wells),
- Mark Ovens (Yeovil),
- Kay Willcox (Norton Radstock),
- Phil Reddish (Burnham on Sea) and
- Sue Rogers (Backwell).
Making sure everything runs smoothly are our Team Managers Jo and Jem Sell from Clevedon.
The three camps will be held on 27 April, 20 July and 26h October 2019 at Millfield and will include parents workshops, two pool sessions focusing on technical skills, land training and a swimmers' workshop session. All the content will be based on that recommended by the Swim England Talent Team.
As part of helping the develop the “team” around the swimmer, in addition to the parents workshops at each camp, Club Coaches from the County will be invited to observe if they wish to do so, free of charge. We hope that our Club Coaches will take up this opportunity as not only will it help their own development, but will also ensure that the key messages being fed down through the National Programme will be taken back into our home clubs to help all our swimmers on their swimming journey.
The process has already started with a Conference for coaches from the counties within the South West. Our Programme coaches attended and additional places were also taken up by some of our home club coaches. In addition, during our County Championships, a Parents workshop for parents of 11yr old swimmers was delivered by James.
An email will be sent shortly to all clubs inviting Club Coaches to attend the Camps as observers (free of charge). Please keep an eye out for this email and ensure it is passed onto all the coaches within your clubs.
For any enquiries regarding the County Pathway Programme, please contact Fiona Bowen, Programme Lead (firstname.lastname@example.org).
