School produces new Head from Frome

Frome Swimming club recently competed at the Exeter Level 1 Open meet held in Millfield School 50m pool. For many this was their first ever top level meet and the swimmers certainly rose to the challenge producing 64 Personal Best times and winning 23 medals.There were 62 top 8 placed finishes with two main highlights of the weekend. Frome's 10 year old boys were placed 1-2-3 in the 50m Backstroke, Henry Dixon, Charlie Head and Caleb Richards respectively, and 1-2 in the 100 Butterfly.



Charlie Head (pictured) earned medals in the 200 Individual Medley (Silver), 100 Butterfly (Bronze), 400 IM (Bronze), 50 Breaststroke (Silver), 50 Butterfly (Silver) and swam his way to being the meet’s Top Boy overall!  Other medal winners were Laura Chumbley with 3 Silver (50, 100 and 200 Breaststroke) and a Bronze (200 IM), Henry Dixon 2 Golds (100 Butterfly, 50 Backstroke), 2 Silvers (400 IM, 100 Freestyle) and 2 Bronze (200 IM and 200 Freestyle). Ryan Hann won Bronze in the 400 IM, Matthew Herring Silver in the 50 Breaststroke, Josh Jobbins, Bronze in the 50 Breaststroke and Caleb Richards 3 Bronze medals in the 50 Backstroke, 50 and 100 Breaststroke.

As a team at the end of the meet Frome were placed 8th out of 41 competing teams. Coach Karen Pinniger was over the moon with such an excellent result this early in the season and with county championships looming the swimmers are riding the wave. Well done to all swimmers and thank you to the team managers and officials.
