Mixed Synchronised 3m Springboard Final

Grace Reid and Ross Haslam collected yet another medal for Great Britain in Edinburgh after they sealed silver in the Mixed 3m Synchro

With the opening two rounds of required dives completed, the GB pair of Reid and Haslam were in the lead with 100.40 points after their 301B, Reverse Dive Piked scored 51.00.

From there on the GB pair remained in the top three and in contention for a medal. This is only the second time that they have competed together, the first being the FINA Diving World Cup in Wuhan, China earlier this year where they won bronze.

Reid and Haslam’s best dive came in the final, their Forward 2 ½ Somersaults Piked (107B), scored a total of 73.47 and confirmed the podium finish with a final score of 308.67, just 4.83 points behind Lou Massenberg & Tina Punzel.

"We're both very very pleased with that result, although I think we both would've like to taken home the gold and you know it probably was within reach but the Germans really stepped it up today. It was hard to almost hear the dive announced because the crowd was so loud but that's a good problem to have," explained Reid at the pool where her diving career began.

Haslam then added, "It's really great to get on the podium after the near misses at the Commonwealth Games earlier in the year and being able to compete with Grace really helps to develop my diving. I'm just really happy with the way it came together today and that we goa medal.

Women’s 10m Platform Final

The final proved a tough test for GB’s Lois Toulson and Robyn Birch, they finished fifth and sixth respectively. Gold silver and bronze went to Celine Maria Van Duijn (NED, 319.10), Noemi Batki (ITA, 315.00) and Maria Kurjo (GER, 308.15) respectively.

Toulson’s final score of 292.20 was an improvement on her prelims performance but fell 15.95 points short of a podium position.

Birch improved on her result from last year’s European Championships stepping up from ninth to sixth. Her final score 290.60.

The other nations really stepped from prelims to finals and challenged the British pair through the five-round final.

Toulson will return to the boards for the Mixed 10m Synchro later in the week and Birch has now finished her Glasgow 2018 European Championship programme.

Women’s 10m Platform Preliminary

British divers, Louis Toulson and Robyn Birch, were back in action in the  and both booked themselves into the championships final.

Toulson had a steady prelim that saw her ranked second on 284.10 after the five rounds of diving.

The Leeds-based world championships silver medallist dropped her Armstand Back 2 Somersaults 1 1/2 Twists (6243D) in the third round but remained composed to qualify for the medal contest later.

"For me it was an ok prelims, some of my dives weren't as refined as I wanted them to be and I dropped my third dive but the main thing is that I'm through to the final. There's plenty of room for improvement in the final and hopefully I can do well," said Toulson

Birch also guaranteed her berth in the European Championship final after she finished the morning session placed eighth with a score of 250.70.

Her best dive came in the fourth round, a Forward 3 1/2 Somersaults Piked (107B), which scored 58.50 and ensured her safe passage to final.
