Synchronised swimming success at University of Bristol

The University of Bristol Synchronised Swimming Club was founded in March 2018 with the help of Swim England Support University Funding and has since gone from strength to strength.

In just two months, the club has managed to gain an 83 person strong interest base within the university community. The club has run multiple introductory sessions with great success and these have appealed to a wide range of people.

The sessions provide the opportunity for anyone to go along, try the sport and see the benefits it could bring – and those that came along included both keen enthusiasts and people who had not been involved in the sport before but wanted to try something new and unique.

Striving for great things

Now the club has set its sights on growing even further and is planning a number of events to help increase membership and awareness.

A stall will be held at the University’s Freshers’ Fair and free sessions are being staged for new students to go along and try out synchronised swimming. If you are a member of the University of Bristol community, why not go along and get involved?

Sarah Darragh, Swim England’s synchronised swimming national development officer, said: “We’re delighted to hear that the University of Bristol Synchronised Swimming Club is going from strength to strength. University clubs, such as those at Bristol, provide the perfect opportunity to promote synchronised swimming to a wider audience. We hope many others will follow in Bristol’s footsteps and strive to provide further opportunities for over 18s to get involved in synchronised swimming.”
