Nominations open for Bristol Sporting Hall of Fame

Bristol was named as a European City of Sport for 2017, judged on its sporting facilities, residents’ level of participation, the success of local teams and sporting events.

The aim was to bring together the best of what the city does to support and celebrate sport with even more events and campaigns during the year.

Bristol City Council is now launching a Bristol Sporting Hall of Fame to celebrate those people who have inspired others to take part in sport and physical activity whether in their local community, at international level,  against the odds or are an up and coming young achiever. The Hall of Fame is not only to recognise the contribution of individuals but also to inspire others to take part and get involved through sharing their stories.

**Nominees for induction to the Hall of Fame must be Bristol City Council area born and bred or living and training in their sport / activity in the Bristol City Council area

The Council is inviting nominations for people in the following categories:
  • Exceptional Contribution,
  • Elite Performers,
  • Inspirational People and
  • Young Achievers
  • Name in Lights -  for those who deserve recognition for their contribution to sport and physical activity but don’t meet the criteria of the above categories

Successful nominees received by 30 April 2018 will be invited to an inaugural reception in the afternoon of Thursday 24 May. 2018

The Bristol Active City website and social media channels will continue to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity and build on the opportunities created during 2017 for people to participate at all levels.
