Chard and District Swimming Club, based on the border of three counties, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, seeks a part time head coach to lead its swimming programme.

CDSC is a fun and friendly club encompassing the competitive and fun side of swimming, training operates from pools in Chard, Axminster and Crewkerne. The Club is looking to expand to offer some land training within part of its regular sessions and further practice in a 50m pool in the lead up to competitions and would like to consider further expansion opportunities as a team with the head coach and committee.

CDSC is a successful competitive club with a track record of developing swimmers to county, regional and national levels. The Club is SwimMark accredited and has a membership of approximately 100 swimmers and growing. 

The Club has a vacancy for an experienced swimming coach to join its team as head coach and lead the swimming programme from promising development level through to performance level, working with a variety of swimmers and abilities from its performance squad to its beginners.

This is a part time role of approximately 14 hours of coaching time per week plus gala attendance time, plus session planning and administration etc. The salary will be competitive and will depend on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will need to complete a DBS check.

Essential Criteria:
  • An ASA Level 2 coaching qualification
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to create progressive, motivating session plans and oversee and guide the Club's team of volunteer coaches
  • Understanding of long term athletic development.
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable Criteria:
  • Availability at or prior to the end of May
  • A recognised lifeguarding qualification
  • Good administration and IT skills.
