National recognition for City of Bristol Aquatics at Swim England Awards 2017

At the Swim England National Awards 2017, City of Bristol Aquatics received the runner up award in the category "Swim England Club of the Year"  The event held on 11 November in the Great Hall of the University of Birmingham.recognises the vast contribution of individuals and organisations from all areas of the sport

Over the last 18 months, volunteers and coaches have merged three Clubs to form City of Bristol Aquatics and secured the pool time to provide three Performance pathways - Swimming, Synchronised Swimming and Waterpolo.

The Club also partners with a Network of six Swimming Clubs - Backwell, Bath Dolphin, Bristol Penguins, Calne Alpha, Keynsham and Soundwell to share and develop best practice and provide performance training opportunities.  Work is underway to develop a Pathway for Swimmers with a Disability with funding secured from local organisations.

Club Secretary Dave Beament said: "To be awarded runner up in the category "Swim England Club of the Year" is a great honour for all our athletes, coaches and volunteers. Well done to all. The club are very grateful for the support received from Swim England's Emily Taylor and Lindsay Dunn. We are also very proud that Kate Shortman received the Award - Swim England Performance Athlete of the Year for Synchro."

Head Coach Matt Puddy commented "Proud is an understatement.. I'm so happy for everyone involved with our newly merged club and network. Past & present!  Onwards and upwards!"
