Young Volunteer of 2016/17 - Libby Aldridge

Most swimming and water polo clubs simply could not run without the support of passionate and enthusiastic volunteers. Each year our Young Volunteer programme recruits athletes keen to acquire skills which will be important in many different job roles - leadership, communication, teaching, planning, promotion, administration, the ability to build a rapport with members of the public and many more.

We would love to see more Clubs offering and mentoring their young people through such programmes which year after year produce volunteering gems.

Today we are delighted to feature our Young Volunteer of the Year, Libby Aldridge of Taunton Deane Swimming Club.

Libby has volunteered her time as an announcer at a number of meets. She assists with Time Trials, has completed her J1 training and attended events during her training. She has passed her Level 1 teaching course which will also benefit the Club's younger swimmers in the future.

Libby assists with the Club's Swim Camps which run during the holidays, registering the children and talking to parents. She also helps assist with the sessions.

Libby sets such a positive example to other swimmers within the club who may wish to stay in swimming when they start to think about life after competing.

We hope you will join us in thanking Libby for all she does. Check back as we give wider recognition to more of our volunteer stars during Volunteers' Week (1-7 Jun 2017).
