ASPSC and Simone Benhayon honoured at ASA Awards

Achievements from across the aquatics community were celebrated at the ASA Aquatics Awards 2015 on 14 November 2015 at the historic Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington Spa.

The Awards recognised the commitment and achievement of participants in 19 categories across the entire ASA pathway from youngsters learning to swim through to elite athletes on the international stage, as well as the outstanding contribution of the volunteers and operators whose continued dedication ensures the smooth running of the sport.

Special mentions with our congratulations go to the Committee, coaches, officials, volunteers and swimmers of Aquae Sulis Performance Swimming Club and to Creative Aquatic Swim School and Zoggs UK ambassador Simone Benhayon.

Aquae Sulis was named ASA Club of the Year. The Gold award recognises a non-ASA funded club showing a commitment and passion for aquatics by providing a quality and enjoyable experience to their members, through developing innovative ways to grow and improve the club. This club must deliver ASA programmes and initiatives and ideally this club will either be part of, or working towards being a part of, a Club Network.

Simone Benhayon was named ASA Swim Teacher of the Year. Her Gold award recognises a teacher who provides quality lessons week in week out. They are motivated to improve their pupil’s standards and go the extra mile to ensure they deliver the best quality learning experience for their pupils.

Simone delivers high quality swimming lessons at her swimming centre, Creative Aquatic, in Tytherington. Her fun and energetic approach to teaching creates a fantastic environment for people of all ages to establish a confident relationship with water.

Simone’s caring and supportive nature is praised by parents and she has taught countless of children, who were previously scared of the water, to put their face in the water with ease in the first lesson.

Simone said:  “My philosophy for teaching swimming is about putting people first and making it about loving the water, and actually developing a relationship with the water and having fun. Winning this award doesn’t really make me feel any different to normal, it’s great but at the same time it’s a confirmation of everything that I have been doing up until this point, so yeah I love it.”
