Day 3 of British Championships 2014

Another fantastic day of swimming at the 2014 British Gas Swimming Championships in Glasgow saw Ross Murdoch break his Scottish 100m Breaststroke record and Sophie Taylor take four seconds off her personal best to set a new English 200m Breaststroke record for gold.

In one of the most anticipated races of the evening, University of Stirling’s Murdoch saw off Adam Peaty to retain his 100m Breaststroke title in Glasgow with a Scottish record time of 59.56, just 0.01 outside the British record. Peaty took silver with an England consideration time of 59.79 and Michael Jamieson (British Gas National Centre Bath) finished third with 1:00.53.

In the 200m Butterfly Roberto Pavoni (British Gas National Centre, Loughborough) won in 1:57.20 but was pushed all the way by Joseph Roebuck (British Gas National Centre, Bath) and Cameron Brodie (Kelly College) who clocked 1:57.28 and 1:57.96 respectively.

British Gas National Centre Loughborough athlete Georgia Davies took the British 100m Backstroke title in 59.78 ahead of Lauren Quigley (Stockport Metro, 1:00.16 )and Lizzie Simmonds (British Gas National Centre Bath, 1:00.60).

Calum Jarvis (Bath Uni) led the qualifiers for the Men's Open 100m Freestyle Final (49.54) ahead of Benjamin Proud (Plymouth Leander, 49.69).

Taunton Deane's Charlie Attwood (1:04.07) led the chasing pack to finish second 0.28s behind Plymouth Leander's Harry Ackland in the Junior Men's 100m Breaststroke Final.
