Yannick Agnel: 'You can win without doping'
In this July 2018 interview, two-time Olympic swimming champion Yannick Agnel tells us what life as a professional athlete is like. At just 24, the Frenchman retired from competitive swimming, saying he had "won what there was to win". Recognising the suspicions that sportsmen at his level take drugs, he says that from what he has seen it is not as widespread as reported. But he admits that anti-doping tests are insufficient and that the technology often lags behind the latest substances.

Meet the exceptional five-time Olympic gold medalist, Olympic silver medalist and two-time Olympic bronze medalist, swimmer Nathan Adrian and be inspired to swim, set goals and achieve your dreams by his energy, joy and enthusiasm.
Nathan shares his journey and thoughts about the art of swimming in a conversation with author and entrepreneur Daniel Sword.
In his Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Adrian swam in the heats of the 4×100m freestyle relay and earned a gold medal when the United States team won in the final.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Adrian won gold medals in both the 100m freestyle and the 4×100m medley relay, and a silver medal in the 4×100m freestyle relay. He has won a total of thirty-two medals in major international competitions; twenty gold, seven silver, and five bronze spanning the Olympics, the World, and the Pan Pacific Championships.
In the 2016 Summer Olympics, along with Michael Phelps, Caeleb Dressel, and Ryan Held, he won a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay as well as individual bronze medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle events.
Adrian started swimming at the age of two and competing at the age of five because of the influence of his siblings. He graduated in 2006 from Bremerton High School, where he swam for the school team.
Adrian attended at the University of California, Berkeley in autumn 2006, where he majored in public health. He graduated with honors in the spring of 2012. Adrian was a five-time individual NCAA champion, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 2009 and 2011 and the 100yds freestyle in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
