Somerset ASA Open Water Championships 2015

Alan Withers, Somerset Open Water Secretary reports on the Somerset ASA Open Water Championships held on Sunday 28 June at Preston Beach, Weymouth as part of the annual South West Region Championships:

42 swimmers representing 10 of our clubs entered the event and the County can be pleased that our entries constituted a third of the total entries from across the region.

Although the weather was a bit dull with some light rain, the water was reasonably warm starting at just over 15 deg C and warming to an almost balmy 17.5 deg C later in the day.

Full results can be found here (Excel file) and on the South West Region website.

Congratulations to all our Somerset medallists, who as can be seen also swept up many of the South West Region medals as well. As a result of their regional performances some of the above may also be receiving invitations to the ASA National Open Water Championships at Rother Valley, Sheffield, in August. Well done to all Somerset swimmers who entered – see you all again next year with even more of your friends!

Thanks also to the organisers, volunteers and officials, from Somerset, South West Region and further afield who helped make the Championships a safe and successful event for the swimmers.
