Swim England South West held a Masters training day on 11 June 2017 at Mount Kelly pool, Tavistock. The event was open only to members of South West clubs and 27 Masters Swimmers took part on a first come first served basis.

The programme included two 90 minute swim sessions, a presentation by sports psychologist Dr Karen Howells PhD CPsychol ('Using Psychological Skills to Build Confidence') and a Land Training session led by Nye Levett of NL Wellness  which was organised to offer graded exercises for the spectrum of ages and abilities of those attending.  .

The first swim session taken by Greg King in the new 50m 'Olympic Legacy' pool concentrated on drills and stroke technique. The second swim of the day was led by Steve Carder.

The day ended with a question and answer session with Nye and Steve on many aspects of nutrition and training techniques, both on land and in the water.  Feedback on the day and in the follow up evaluation sheets was extremely positive.
