Our County Officials Co-ordinator Alan Withers announced today the individual success of Elaine Gilbert (Frome) following recent months of her practical assessment as a British Swimming Referee. Having passed the theory exam last November, Elaine has undertaken a variety of practical assessments to achieve recognition, something that is very much valued by the County and her Club.

Alan, whilst welcoming officials to the fourth day of competition at our Championships as part of  'Team Somerset', acknowleged Elaine's sucess in addition to the numbers of volunteers willing to undergo a new training programme towards qualification at all levels, "The 2009 Championships have seen an increase in the number of people willing to get involved in our sport through officiating, which is very encouraging especially in light of a requirement that those around the pool from 2010 onwards at County level will need to be licenced by the asa. On behalf of the County Management Committee, thank you. We look forward to working with you towards your all successfully achieving qualification."

Photos of our County Officials around the poolside can be found in our 'gallery'.
