Swim England Swim Coach Course- Aug / Sep 2018

New Coaching CertificatesPlaces will go quickly as there is a swimming club offer available on this blended learning course which will be held at the University of Bath with support from Team Bath AS.

Building on the knowledge and skills developed as an assistant coach, the Swim England Swimming Coach course focuses on the planning, delivery and evaluation of coaching sessions. The certificate aims to provide and equip you with the skills, knowledge, tools and techniques to effectively plan, prepare, deliver, monitor and evaluate swimming coaching sessions.

The *Blended Learning* programme means that learners complete part of the theory units online. This work is assessed and then learners complete all e-learning elements prior to attending the face-to-face practical units at Sports Training Village, University of Bath.

The online learning starts from 3 August 2018.

Dates and times for face to face units at the University of Bath, Sports Training Village, Claverton Down, Bath BA2 7AY will be:*
  • Saturday 15 September (9am – 6pm)
  • Sunday 16 September (10am – 7pm)
  • Saturday 22 September (9am – 6pm)
  • Sunday 23 September (10am – 7pm)

Please read full details of the course on the IOS website before booking. It will state all places are currently booked or reserved.. Swim England South West are holding the places and there are 11 places available as at 30 January. Candidates / clubs should contact Chris Vickery (chris.vickery@swimming.org) to access the club offer prices and book a place.

If your club is unsure whether it has a valid IoS voucher for attaining or retaining SwimMark, please contact IOS admin (iosadmin@swimming.org)

Don't forget you may be able to apply for bursaries as well.

Pre-requisites
  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You should have a good level of English verbal and written communicaiton skills
  • You will need to have coached in the last 3 months on a regular basis
  • You must be linked to a swimming club wih access to 3 sessions per week for off course assessment 
  • You must have access to swimmers that sit within 2 different stages of the ADSP (Athlete Development Support Pathway) i.e training to train and above over the course of a 6 week mesocycle
  • You should work with a coaching assistant
  • You must have knowledge and experience of current coaching best practices
  • You must have access to a computer or tablet to complete the online learning elements of the course
