The ASA Swimming Conference - It’s your sport
Saturday 23 October 2010 (9am - 3pm) - Holywell Park, Loughborough
The ASA Swimming Conference is your chance to talk with the ASA and discuss how we can work together to drive the sport’s future development.
This year’s conference is aimed at those involved in club administration and the ASA want to develop a real two-way dialogue between staff and delegates on the day.
As well as guest speakers David Sparkes (Chief Executive of the ASA) and Baroness Sue Campbell (Chair of UK Sport), all delegates will have the opportunity to attend workshops and visit the ‘communication zone’ where you will be able to chat to ASA staff on any matters that concern your club, whether that’s workforce, volunteering, talent, purchasing Awards, swim21 or the ASA website.
Read the draft programme.
Workshops
The day will also feature a number of interactive workshops that will run both in the morning and afternoon to give delegates the chance to attend the two that interest them most. The full list of workshops is:
* Grow participation, sustain facilities, excel in talent ... the solution to make it happen
The benefits of good pool programming for swimmer pathways and profit, with an understanding of how to work directly with pool operators.
* Fed up of filling in forms? A revolutionary approach to managing your high performing workforce.
A glimpse at how the training needs of high performing coaches will soon be met by a new online training management system from the Institute of Swimming (IoS).
* It’s good to talk ... How Marketing Communications can help deliver our mutual goals
An insight into how clubs can communicate better, whether that’s when speaking to the media, their members or the ASA. With the chance to feedback on ASA communication.
* swim 21: where are we now and where do we want to be?
An overview of the changes to the swim21 accreditation programme, the benefits it can bring to a club and the opportunity to ask specific questions on the process.
* Data Protection and your Club/County Association
An explanation of the Data Protection Act and how this impacts upon the Club and County Association, with templates and guide for clubs.
* ASA Governance Review – setting the scene, questions and answers.
A review of ASA Governance and an input into the debate surrounding the structure of the ASA
The conference will also offer members the unique chance to hear a number of their questions answered ‘live’* by members of the ASA senior management team thanks to the Question Time session.
And delegates will be offered an optional tour of SportPark, the new home of British Swimming, the ASA and the IoS, where they can also learn what they had to say in the Satisfaction Survey.
To book your place please download the booking form and return to gemma.ryder@swimming.org
*Questions will be pre-selected before the event from a selection submitted by members.
